On all cruises which depart on or after 31st March 2019, it will be mandatory to pay the service charge (tips) that they charge, these will not be able to be cancelled or modified after this date.
They advise that this is necessary in order to maintain the high level of quality and service for all passengers and that they believe that this is the best manner in which to assure that the service charges are redistributed to all the team members.
The amount will automatically be added to your bill that you finalise at the end of the cruise, or you can pre-pay this amount at the same time as when you contract your cruise.
They have asked all the travel agencies to advise of this change in the policy and that you are aware that it is now obligatory to make the payment.
However, as a gesture on their part, they are offering all customers the opportunity to pre-pay the tips between now and 30th April (irrespective on when your cruise departs) and they will apply a 50% discount to the amount that would be charged.
For information, MSC charge a rate of 10€ per person per night for all adults on board, and 5€ per child per night for all children aged between 2 and 11 (not yet completed 12 years).
